The Weekend Party Mix with DJ Matt Lindsey
It’s been said DJ Matt Lindsey started his DJ career at age 12 when he first discovered an original 12 inch pressing of “Strawberry Fields” by The Beatles while on a family vacation in Israel. Opting to play the record on repeat rather than indulge in childhood activities, it was the inspiration found in this singular moment that would forever inspire his future.
Having been classically trained on piano at age 4 by this father, playing the trumpet & trombone in Junior High band, and playing guitar in several bands, it wasn’t until age 17 did he realize his real musical calling. Literally starting his DJ career in the basement of his church DJ Matt Lindsey had no idea he was about to embark on the opportunity of a lifetime.
In 2000 he was asked to fill the on-air position at The Weekend Party Mix on KOKF 90.9 FM where he remained for almost 7 years. In June of 2004 DJ Matt Lindsey relocated to Las Vegas where he opened a satellite branch of 91FM and broadcasted his show live from Las Vegas to the Oklahoma City Metro and the world abroad every week.
In addition to playing on air DJML has had the honor of sharing the stage with some of the most revolutionary and respected artists of his era such as; Hybrid, Shiny Toy Guns, John Mayer, Britney Spears, Fall out Boy, Panic at the Disco and has previously served as the official DJ for MAC Cosmetics, Motorola, Red Bull and performed the opening ceremony for the 2010 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas for ESPN.
When he’s not DJ’ing, Matt Lindsey and fellow composer Unadave (David Giglio) can be found in the studio scoring original tracks. Their latest track “Labour of Love” was released world-wide in early 2010 on a compilation CD benefiting Remix Our World. Remix Our World is a project where all profits earned goes towards feeding starving children in Africa. Other contributing artists include: AJ Mora, Shiny Toy Guns, Scott Blackwell, Richard Vission.
Their remix of Rubicon 7 – “Wonder” (DJ Matt Lindsey & Unadave remix) can be heard in regular rotation here on 91Online and on The Weekend Party Mix and was released nationally by Rubicon 7 on a compilation of remixes.
